Alvin Chronicles Ep. 4: The Near Future
Six years into the future...
In his headquarters at Switzerland, Glen Takahashi deviously shuffled around some code. Being the CEO of a major software company, Glen didn’t trust the people under him, so every time after a new program was created, Glen would personally inspect the product and instill some of his awesomeness into it. Thanks to this method, Glensoft software turned Glen into the richest and most powerful man in Switzerland.
So anyway, Glen was fiddling with some code when all of a sudden Patrick Lin walked up to him, flanked by two armored bodyguards. Glen turned around to face Patrick, surprised.
“Woah, Patrick! I haven’t seen you in three years! What are you doing here?” asked Glen.
“I’m here to take over your company,” said Patrick matter-of-factly.
“What?” Glen laughed. “You’re kidding, right? You just come up to me and tell me you’re taking over my company? I’m the richest man in Switzerland, and the most influential man in the WORLD!”
“And I own seventy five percent of your company,” said Patrick.
“Huh?” said Glen.
“Of course you had no way of knowing the Director of Financial Operations at Glensoft secretly works for I,” said Patrick.
“What? That doesn’t make sense,” said Glen. His hand, the one that wasn’t clutching the computer mouse, slowly reached under the table for a concealed weapon.
“You reaching under a transparent table for a concealed gun doesn’t make sense,” snapped Patrick.
Glen, caught, sighed and retracted his hand from under the table.
“How exactly did you buy seventy five percent of my company?” asked Glen, resigned.
“Easy,” said Patrick. “I had help from the Soviets. Their leader kindly gave me over eighty million euros to buy your shares.”
Glen gasped. “Peter gave you eighty million? But why?”
“You’ll see in time.” Patrick gestured, and the two bodyguards advanced.
“No!” Glen yelled. The bodyguards grabbed his arms and dragged him away. “You’ll never get away with this!”
“We shall see,” said Patrick. He sat down at Glen’s table and inserted a USB flash drive into the computer.
Somewhere else in Switzerland…
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!”
Victoria and Alvin fell into green grass on top of a green hill. Alvin got up first, M9 pistol at the ready. Victoria got up second, dazed.
“Where are we?” asked Victoria.
“I think you should be asking when are we,” replied Alvin.
“What, are we in the future or something?” asked Victoria.
“Yep.” Alvin replied.
“Well, how do you know-“
Suddenly, a bloated round cow wobbled up to them.
“AAAAAAAHH!” yelled Victoria.
“OH MY GAWD IT’S A GENETICALLY MUTATED COW!!” Alvin yelled, and fired off a few rounds into the cow.
“MOO!” yelled the cow, and tipped over. The cow rolled off the hill.
Moments passed, as Victoria and Alvin regained their composure.
“Wait a minute,” said Victoria, “Where’s Jason, Howard and Lawrence?”
Somewhere in Manhattan…
In a worn out back alley, a sewer cover was pushed aside, and Howard climbed out of the sewer hole.
“What the hell happened?” asked Howard.
Jason climbed out of the same sewer hole and coughed.
“I don’t know, but that felt weird,” he said.
“Yeah, it was very disorienting.” Howard agreed.
“No, I meant one of your hands was holding on to my hip the entire time!” Jason returned.
“Oh really?” said Howard, “That’s strange. I do not remember that.”
“Well, now you’re informed.” Jason said. “Don’t do that next time!”
They both looked around at the abandoned apartments surrounding them.
“Where’s Alvin and Victoria?” asked Howard.
“Where’s Lawrence?” asked Jason.
Meanwhile, at Lynbrook…
Lawrence got up and looked around at the auto yard…or what was the auto yard. The walls were all painted a different color, and were no longer made out of brick.
“Is this Lynbrook?” he wondered to himself. “Where is everyone?”
Suddenly, a futuristic bell emanated throughout the area, and Lawrence immediately recognized the sound.
“Hey, morning announcements!” said Lawrence happily. “I guess I really am at Lynbrook after all!”
“Hello Lynbrook High School,” said a voice over the intercom.
“Hello,” Lawrence said back.
“These are the announcements for Thursday, January 8, 2015.”
Lawrence suddenly looked around wildly, stunned. “2015???? WTF???!?!?!”
To be continued…
